Characters

Chappy Chappy

Chappy Chappy is the main character of Irritability. He is endowed with superhuman strength and speed, as well as the ability to cause things to erupt into flames. He has had these abilities since birth, and so, for any problem or inconvenience he ever faced, the easiest solution was always violence. Because of this, he never bothers to think about anything, since the solution will always be the same: smash something. He isn't entirely stupid, at least if he ever decides to think about something. He lives in the Banana House.

Chappy's origin is as an X-com soldier. X-com is a fairly old computer strategy game where you manage earth's resistance to an alien invasion. Usually your soldiers get to kill about 0-10 aliens before they die themselves, maybe 8-30 for the good ones. Chappy Chappy, however, was able to kill about 300 aliens without ever dying. I once sent him into an alien base by himself as a joke, expecting to just reset without saving after he died, but he killed all 15 aliens by himself. I was surprised. Chappy Chappy represents myself, most of the time.

Exoth
Exoth is Chappy's friend, an evil genius. They have a litlle partnership in which Exoth solves some of the little problems caused by Chappy's reliance on violence, and Chappy brings Exoth all the loot he steals from banks and such. Exoth is kind of a jerk, and will often use the other characters as tools for his evil genius schemes. On the other hand, he often helps people out for trivial fees, as long as they acknowledge his genius. He is not quite as strong as Chappy, but he has pretty strong magic, though he seldom uses it.

Exoth also derives from a video game. In Sid Meyer's Civilization, and Civ II, he is the immortal mastermind of the mighty Vedic civilization, ruling his empire with wisdom and.. stuff, crushing all the other, puny civilzations. In one Civ2 game, Vedica has over 100 cities, and 80 futuretechnologies, for those who play. Exoth also represents me, though not as much.

Beireia

Beireia is the most irritable in irritability. She has super strength, almost as strong as Chappy, but she also has super high blood pressure. Her thought process is more versatile than Chappy's, so she doesn't solve ALL of her problems with violence. She does not have much patience, however, and will even beat her friends, if they annoy her. Beireia enjoys a good adventure, if it is on her terms, but she resents being tricked into Exoth's plans. She, too lives in the Banana House.

Beireia is not from a video game, I just made her up for the Irritability story. The name doesn't mean anything, it's just a bunch of letters put together almost randomly. She doesn't represent any actual person.

Victor Banana

Victor Banana is Chappy's good friend from, I guess, high school. He is the last feudal lord in the world, and has his feif right here in Texas. He has a plantation, the Banana Manor, upon which slaves grow crops, which is the source of his income. Occasionally the slaves leave, since there is nothing to keep them from doing so, and he and Chappy have to go downtown to capture more. Victor Banana is the least irritable in Irritability, it is almost impossible to arouse his anger. He is married to Ionil Banana, and is the father of Tatanya Positronic Banana. Yes, he too has super strength, about even with Chappy, and he can also fire the Banana beam.

Victor Banana was another really good X-com soldier, the eldest son of the powerful Banana Clan. Unfortunately, he was shot and killed. I resurrected him for Irritability. He is also now a knight in my final fantasy tactics game. He represents Chris Moreno, of Rethaoiate, and often wears his crystal pepsi shirt.

Ionil Banana

Despite being Victor Banana's wife, she is not really a very major character. She does not have much super strength, but she can cast healing magic, if she remembers it. Ionil Banana is incredibly forgetful. She can think things through pretty quickly, but her atrocious memory usually prevents her from solving any problem before she forgets what she was doing. This infuriates her friend, Beireia. She lives at Banana Manor with her husband, and her daughter, Tatanya Banana. She might have other family, but she can't remember, of course.

Ionil Banana does not come from anything, nor does she represent anyone.

Tatanya Positronic Banana

Tatanya is the daughter of Victor Banana, and has been exposed to the craziness of Chappy and Beireia since she was small. Much to her father's dismay, she looks up to them, and studies fighting techniques, and defeats those she doesn't like. She is very nice and thoughtful, but she has a temper, and her personality is completely different when she's mad. Tatanya was the first character in Irritability to have a definite age. She is sixteen, though she is seven in one chapter. She goes to high school at Galvatron, when she is not embarking on adventures and such. In the comic strip, I decided to make her 11 or 12 years old, instead of 16, since Victor Banana is supposed to be in college, though that's still a little too old. As a kid, she doesn't have as much of a temper.

Special Death Move: Banana Beam

Gasoline Girl

Gasoline Girl is Tatanya Positronic Banana's best friend. Unfortunately for her, she was accidently kidnapped by Chappy and the gang. When she tried to get them to release her, so she could go home, they stole her house, and put it on top of the Banana House, with help from Robot the Wrecker. Gasoline Girl has no gasoline super powers, and does not like to fight. She has become pretty timid from being around super strong people who get excited easily. Her mom is Gasoline Mom, and you can guess who her dad is.

Gasoline Girl comes from yet another X-com soldier. She was pretty good, which seems to be rare for X-com girls, she killed about 25, but then my game got erased, and she was no more. Chappy Chappy was erased, too, by the way, but for some reason, when I started a new game, there he was, although he had been stripped of his power.

Robot

Robot is a young punk who fell in love with Tatanya Positronic Banana. He has since been scheming to keep himself in the Banana household, so as to be close to her at all times. Robot is a wrecker in training, and was responsible for moving the Gasoline House on top of the Banana house. He is only slightly stronger than normal, but he plans to get Chappy to train him so he can impress Tatanya. He is kind of shy, but not overly so, he managed to ask Tatanya out by himself. He is often distracted, and doesn't notice important things, like if he's about to run something over with his tow truck. He goes to a wrecker acadamy, home of Jim the Dragon, and a bunch of zombie wreckers. In the Irritability comic strip, though, he is younger, about 11 or 12, and is Exoth's lab assistant and errand boy. His personality remains the same, though.

I originally used the name Robot on Edge the ninja from Final Fantasy II for super nintendo. I thought it was hilarious to see them use it in the dialogue. So Robot is sort of based on Edge the ninja, but not really. The name is a lot of fun. I eventually plan to have another character who is a robot duplicate of Robot, and name him Human. Kind of predictable, but I can't pass it up.

Shoko Togakushi

Chappy Chappy and Beireia have been wrecking havoc in Galvatron for so long, the local news channel has assigned a reporter to follow them around, so they can offer up-to-the-minute coverage on what they destroy. That reporter is Shoko Togakushi. Fortunately for her, Chappy and Beireia think of her as a friend, and don't mind if she and her camera crew follow them around. She has become very well known and respected in the journalism circles as a result of her work. Whenever something dangerous happens, she likes to point out how she's in extreme danger. "But I'm not scared!" she adds.

Clawson

Clawson is one of the few villains in Irritability. He is some old freak who was an enemy of Batman in his younger years, but now he has gone senile, and thinks everyone is Batman. He is always launching these elaborate schemes to capture Batman, but he gets someone else instead, every time. He is also the evil art history teacher of Tatanya Positronic's class in the Galvatron high school, and gives the students sadistic assignments.
