Chappy Chappy

To start off, let me acknowledge that nearly all of the character design in Irritability is pretty damn basic. Visually as well as personality-wise. Chappy is the best example of this. Big guy, blond spikey hair, blue jeans and a shirt with his name on it. Sometimes he has a sword. Totally simple, which is pretty convenient, right? Since I have to draw him over and over, and coming up with something more unique would require thinking which is hard and stuff. But, in my defense, Irritability requires the people to appear somewhat mundane, since the main theme is fantasy/RPG-type stuff in a real-world setting. If the characters wore battle armor, or really anything other than everyday clothes, the sense of a normal world would vanish. ...Of course, if I drew backgrounds, maybe this wouldn't be the case... But that's beside the point.
For design, I gave him a flat chin, rather than pointy like most of the others. He's also got a sloping forehead, which is supposed to be associated with dumb people. As with some of the old characters, his eyes are done in a stylistic way that is particular to him. I used to use a solid line for the hairline, so people thought his widow's peak was bangs coming forward.
His defining characteristic is ridiculous super-strength, so I made him a pretty big guy. In the end, though, I didn't put a whole lot of thought into his charater design, since I didn't really create him to fill a certain role, the comic grew up around him and Exoth.
